The shape of these teardrop earrings was inspired by arabesque patterns found in islamic designs in architecture. They are articulated in three sections, giving them a graceful movement.
The teardrop earrings are hand cut in sterling silver with a polished finish.
The length of the earrings is approximately 6cm.
Meet the Maker
Emma is inspired by the intricate beauty of geometric islamic patterns. It speaks to her of a sublime beauty, which is intriguing, intricate, and feminine. Emma attempts to find a personal way of paying homage to the original designs and their anonymous makers. Because she believes that each pattern is unique, she feels the need to make each piece entirely by hand, spending hours drawing, piercing and finishing them with care. To her, it is a question of dedication, patience and a continuous connection between history, materials and myself. Perfection is not the final quest, it is to find the unique aspect in each design in all of its different levels, making it an intimate connection between the wearer, the history and her craft.
